UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes, the handles on your doors will wear out and require replacement. In this case, it is important that the new handles match the dimensions of the old handle.

The top screw's position the lever, and the keyhole dimensions are the three measurements you have to determine. Refer to the size guide for help with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a modern-day door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This type door handle is offered in a variety of styles & finishes. This handle is available from a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed from robust materials, and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same spindle and screws to secure them. They can be easily installed on a new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to suit all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance is maintained over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is especially useful for doors with narrower frames, in which the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever can be used on doors with a latch which can be operated with the thumb inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles used on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle or two spindles inline or offset. They are commonly utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200k cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle an outstanding performance and long-lasting durability for its intended use.

All UPVC lever pads for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm permit a bigger size of handle which can be beneficial in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with springs, which eliminate the issue of door handles that sag out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is important to match up the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often called the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the correct handles.

After you have identified the correct PZ size it is important to ensure that the lever and push pads are shaped to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. They are typically square or round with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads that we offer are spring-loaded. This means that they will return to a horizontal state when not being used, rather than hanging and possibly securing to the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from getting into a house. It is also the case that the majority of the UPVC lever pad handles are swivel which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. Cylinder locks are operated with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock and allow them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this depends on the way your doors and handles are used. For example, external doors require a higher security cylinder, while internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can increase security, such as anti-drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured correctly to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure with the lock in position, you can remove it. It is crucial to avoid having a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This can help stop the attack and ensure your doors are secure.

Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which can make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits within the base of the door handle backplate, providing a spring solution that returns the multipoint lock handles back to their original position after using. The handles were previously equipped with no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was removed. Adding this simple component is one of the best methods to correct this, and is an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, as they aren't always simple to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They are not compatible with handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please see the image for a more detailed diagram). They are a replacement for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of many brands of uPVC doors. They have an elongated square that accommodates an 8mm spindle and they are supplied individually.

These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution to the issue of  door handles  that are sagging. These spring cassettes are simple to install and can extend the lifespan of your uPVC door.
